Edit Your Closet and Other Spaces Before the Holidays

Pre-holiday is the perfect time to edit and redecorate all of you storage spaces from cabinets to closets. You're already getting decorations out and moving things around to make room for a tree and extra company. Why not REALLY get ready for the holidays this year?

And that's exactly what I did for a recent client in Seattle.

Sue was overwhelmed by a large collection of pre-baby clothing and other odds and ends filling up her spacious walk-in closet. She was having a hard time finding clothes she liked to wear post-baby and feeling depressed being surrounded by clothes she couldn't wear right at this time as the mother of an 18-month old.

It took some convincing as clothing for a new mom is always a sensitive area. Sue's old clothes she couldn't wear were causing distress. And as a mother of older children myself, I made the case for her that by the time she's out of the toddler years, most of what she wore pre-baby would be out of style to wear 6-7 years from now. By then, she'll want a new wardrobe anyway to meet her needs as an active mother of older children.

Unfortunately, this happens to all of us! Instead of feeling sad about the lost style, adding order and space to your closet will help you feel excited and happy at the prospect of new clothing down the line. In the end, Sue was very pleased with the results. She could not believe how much better her days became without the huge time-waster of digging through clothes. Check it out below!
